Jesse Royal

Jesse David Royal (born 29 April 1989) is a Jamaican reggae musician. He released his debut album, Singing the Blues, in 2010. His second album, Long Days and Short Nights, was released in 2014 on VP Records.Some of his famous singles are butterflies, modern day judas, feel your pain, this morning and finally.Royal began his career being mentored by the late Fatis Burrell (the father of one of Royal’s classmates), who produced Jesse’s first two releases, Singing the Blues and Long Days and Short Nights in 2010.In 2015, Vogue Magazine listed Royal as part of a greater on-going “Reggae Revival” movement (along with other reggae artists Chronixx, Jah9 and Protoje) happening in Jamaica and the rest of the world, revitalizing the genre of roots reggae.

Wayne Wonder

Wayne Wonder (born Von Wayne Charles, 26 July 1972) is a Jamaican reggae singer. He is best known for his single “No Letting Go”, which went to number one in the UK Singles Chart in 2003.

His most popular songs include “No Letting Go”, “Hold Me Now”, “Caught Up” and “Let Me Love You Tonight”. He also performed on the soundtrack to the film Cool Runnings. He is known to be one of the first artists to popularize reggae music in Europe with his hit single, “No Letting Go”.

 

Sizzla

Sizzla Kalonji, the prolific Reggae artist, is one of Jamaica’s most Famous artists. He is a vocalist, musician and recording artist. He is one of the most respected and well-known artists in reggae music.

He has been in the music industry for over 25 years and has been nominated for several awards including a Grammy nomination in 2014.In his 25 year music career he has sung 400 tracks with close to 80 studio albums to his name.

He has collaborated with many top-notch producers such as Phillip “Fatis” Burrell, Bobby Digital, Donovan Germaine and Sly & Robbie. Kalonji’s latest 12-track album, Million Times, reminisces on the Reggae icon’s greatest hit songs of all time.

 

Shaggy

Shaggy is a musician, DJ and a songwriter. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, later moved to Ottawa, Canada. Shaggy is a very talented artist who has worked with many other artists including Sting, Sean Paul and Rikrok.

Some of his hit songs are Angel, it wasn’t me, boombastic, i need your love and you girl. Shaggy started his career in 1992 when he released his first album called “Pure Pleasure”. At that time he was known as Orville Richard Burrell but later changed his name to Shaggy because of his long hair style.

His music style is Reggae fusion which means that he combines reggae with other genres like R&B and hip hop. Shaggy has won several awards for his great music such as The Grammy Award.

 

Damien Marley

Damien Marley, famously known as Junior Gong, is the son of legend Bob Marley. His nickname “junior gong” is derived from his father’s nickname of “Tuff Gong”.

He has 4 Grammy awards under his belt and is one of the most loved artists in his genre. He has produced music in reggae fusion, roots reggae, reggae and hip hop. Some of his famous singles are: Welcome to Jamrock, Patience, Affairs of the Heart, Road to Zion, It Was Written.

 

Burning Spear

Reggae legend Burning Spears, is a Jamaican roots musician and singer. Born in Jamaica, he mentioned that Bob Marley and Marcus Garvey had a great influence on his life.

Burning Spear’s career has been very impressive, out of his 25 albums, 9 albums have won him a Grammy nomination. His album “Our Music” has been one of his most popular albums, it relied heavily on the roots of reggae movement.

Some of his most famous songs are cry blood Africa, African teacher, Mek We dweet and Marcus Garvey.

 

Jimmy Cliff

Jamie Chambers, popularly known as Jimmy Cliff, was born in Jamaica. He is a Jamaican ska, rocksteady, reggae and soul musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer, and actor. He has been honored with the title, “order of merit”; he is the only living Reggae to be awarded this title by the Jamaican government for achievements in the arts and science.

Some of his famous songs truly loved by audiences are, “Many Rivers to Cross”, “You Can Get It If You Really Want”, “The Harder They Come”, “Reggae Night”.

 

Beres Hammond

Beres Hammond, a popular Jamaican Reggae singer. Beres grew up listening to his father’s records of soul music and American Jazz, which ignited his love for music. He started his career with Soul reggae in 1976, two of his popular songs, “I’m in love” and “One step ahead” were his greatest hits in Jamaica.

Later on, he went and formed his own record label, “Harmony Records” where he released a number of hit albums. He is known to be one of the best reggae artists of all time.
